Our Mission

The Desert Communities Chapter of the worldwide Association of Fundraising Professionals
advances philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice effective and ethical fundraising.The core activities through which the chapter fulfills this mission include education
and training, promoting credentialing, providing resources for fundraising effectiveness,
networking, mentoring, advocacy 
and recognition of philanthropy.

About HARC HARC, Inc. (Health Assessment and Research for Communities, recently changed from Health Assessment Resource Center) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Palm Desert, California on the University of California, Riverside’s Palm Desert campus. HARC provides research and evaluation services to support wellness and quality of life. This takes two primary forms: 1) conducting a triennial random-digit-dial survey of the health of the Coachella Valley, and providing this information back to the community, and 2) conducting customized research and evaluation services for client organizations (primarily nonprofits). Position Title: Research and Evaluation Associate Location: Palm Desert, CA Position: Full-Time (1 FTE), 40 hours per week Reports to: Director of Research and Evaluation Description: The Research and Evaluation Associate supports the Director of Research and Evaluation to design and implement a wide range of applied social science research. The Research and Evaluation Associate will be expected to interact with clients, design research and evaluation tools and protocols, collect data in a variety of methods, analyze both quantitative and qualitative data, and write reports to communicate findings to lay audiences. ... more >

Animal Samaritans was founded in 1978, and is a leading 501(c)(3) no-kill animal shelter and adoption center, full-service veterinary clinic, and comprehensive outreach animal welfare organization committed to “Improving the Lives of Animals and People.” Animal Samaritans relies on foundation grants and the generosity of individual and corporate donors to protect and save abused and abandoned animals; operate a no-kill animal shelter and adoption center, educate students and the public about the importance of humane treatment of animals through our Humane Education Program; provide Animal Assisted Therapy to patients in hospitals, residents in assisted living facilities and nursing homes, as well as the disabled; offer financial assistance programs for pet owners on a limited income, discounts to our active and retired military, and low-cost high-quality veterinary care for all pet owners.
