Peoplescape Consulting Group is assisting its client, ACT for MS in recruiting for the following position:

JOB DESCRIPTION - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - ACT for MS

Position

Reporting to the President of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the successful leadership and management of ACT for MS according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors.

In general, the ED is responsible for:

-          Operational oversight for the following:

  • Client Programs and Services
  • Financial management
  • Fundraising (Events and Grants)

-          Management of employees and consultants

-          Management of policies and procedures

-          Community Outreach

 Specific Responsibilities:

 1.      Leadership

  • Work with the Board of Directors (BOD) to develop a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization
  • Act as professional advisor to the BOD on all aspects of organizational activities
  • Represent ACT for MS at community activities to enhance its community profile
  • Serve as spokesperson and advocate for the organization’s mission, programs and services

 2.      Development

  • Develop broad-based funding sources, including grantors and prospective donors, in conjunction with the Board to ensure a continuing stable financial base for the organization’s operations
  • Establish good working relationships and maintain on-going communications with partners, community groups, politicians, funders and other organizations to help achieve the goals of ACT for MS
  • Work with the Marketing & Publicity Committee to develop an overall marketing strategy, including the optimization of the use of social media and other technology tools
  • Promote and maintain effective public relations, public information and marketing programs

 3.      Organizational Management:  Oversight of, and direction to, staff in the management of:

Financial Planning and Management:

-          Work with the Finance Committee to prepare an annual budget for Board approval

-          Provide the Board with comprehensive, monthly reports on the revenues and expenditures of ACT for MS

-          Ensure fiduciary responsibility, sound financial management and financial accountability for contributions, income       and all other organizational assets

-          Review and maintain Corporate Records and Audits

 Operational Planning and Management

-          Develop annual operational plan with goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of ACT for MS

-          Prepare policies for approval of the Board and procedures to implement the policies

-          Analyze opportunities and present to the Board

-          Organize and facilitate Board meetings

-          Ensure optimization of the organization’s use of technology

 Program Planning and Management

-          Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of ACT for MS’s programs and services

-          Ensure the programs and services offered by the organization contribute to its mission and reflect the priorities of

            the Board

-          Oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special projects

 Qualifications

 1.      Experience

  • Extensive non-profit experience, either as a volunteer or staff member
  • Proven track record of success with revenue forecasting, cost management, strategic planning and operational responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to develop funding sources for program expansion
  • Employee management experience
  • Familiarity with the desert community

 2.      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing Board member relationships
  • Strong marketing, public relations and fundraising experience with ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Passion about our mission, integrity, positive attitude
