Our client, a  small nonprofit in the Coachella Valley, is seeking a full-time Executive Director to provide leadership, direction, and hands-on management to their team of committed employees and volunteers.

With the Board’s input, this role would have;  

  • Operational oversight of:
    • Client Programs and Services
    • Financial management
    • Fundraising (Events and Grants)
  • Management of the full scope of the business.
  • Creation and implementation of budgets for mission-related and member benefit programs
  • Management of a small team of employees and consultants
  • Management of policies and procedures
  • Community Outreach

Specific Responsibilities:


  • Work with the Board of Directors to develop a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization
  • Act as professional advisor to the Board on all aspects of organizational activities
  • Report to the Board at monthly meetings
  • Represent the organization at community activities and enhance its community profile
  • Serve as spokesperson and advocate for the organization’s mission, programs, and services


  • Develop broad-based funding sources, including grantors and prospective donors, in conjunction with the Board to ensure a continuing stable financial base for the organization’s operations
  • Establish good working relationships and maintain on-going communications with partners, community groups, politicians, funders and other organizations 
  • Develop a marketing strategy, including the optimization of the website, social media and other technology tools
  • Provide programs and events to top-tier members and donors
  • Manage staff coordination, vendor relationships and budget for events such as the annual gala

Organizational Management:

  • Financial Planning and Management
  • Prepare an annual budget for Board approval
  • Provide the Board with comprehensive, monthly financial reports
  • Ensure fiduciary responsibility, sound financial management and financial accountability for contributions, income, and all other organizational assets
  • Review and maintain Corporate Records and Audits
  • Operational Planning and Management
  • Develop annual operational plan
  • Prepare policies for approval of the Board and procedures to implement the policies
  • Analyze opportunities and present to the Board
  • Organize and facilitate Board meetings
  • Program Planning and Management
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services
  • Ensure the programs and services offered by the organization contribute to its mission and reflect the priorities of the Board



  • Extensive non-profit experience, either as a volunteer or staff member
  • Development skills, primarily grant-writing but including other capabilities to handle sponsorship outreach and solicitation
  • A proven track record of success with revenue forecasting, cost management, strategic planning and operational responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to develop funding sources for program expansion
  • Employee management experience

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work independently without close oversight
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and ability to build and manage relationships
  • The ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Strong business skills, including facility with Quickbooks as well as other computer-related operations such as maintaining websites and social media
  • An interest in the arts would be a plus for both the candidate and the organization.
